Reportedly this toy was made briefly in 1898 or 1906 in Germany by Lehmann from dies acquired from other firms (Adam/Minkowsi), and it bears the Lehmann logo but has no known EPL number assigned. But the version of the company logo shown on the toy is of much later design, so it is more likely to have been produced later. It is commonly described as “Minstrel Man”, but has also been referred to as “Jumping Jack” or Hampelfigur. The directions printed on the fragile envelope the toy came in, show how to operate the toy. This toy is in near mint condition and is not rare, but the envelope showing the instructions is very rare.
