Vehicular traffic in 1920s in Europe had gotten so chaotic that traffic towers were being constructed at major intersections manned with policeman with flags to direct traffic. This toy made in Germany in 1925 by Lehmann was designated as EPL 791 and is a replica of one built in London. This toy bank was made for the English market. The five sides have litho pictures of common London landmarks such as Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, etc. The names of each appear at the base. All the lettering on the toy is in English. The child deposits the coin at the top and that makes the policeman raise the silk British flag. This toy has the original coin trap underneath and still retains the key to retrieve the coins.
