This is a very rare, mint-in-box Lehmann “Coco” climbing toy. Made from 1889 to 1935 it was designated EPL 185 and shows a climbing native going up a coconut tree to bring one back. It is identical in operation to the Gustav Climbing Miller toys, but this one has racial overtones. The Cieslik book on Lehmann toys says the early version had the foot decorated with leaves, while the later ones did not. The original box shown is in exceptional condition as is the toy.
