Lehmann “IHI” grocery van w/driver, fabric

This is one of the first toys to have “automatic arrest” of the mechanism that kept the toy from taking off until it was set down on the floor.  No need to hold a wheel to keep it from running.  Designated EPL 595 and made from 1907 to 1935, it depicts an early grocery or meat van.  The merchant would roll up the side curtains to show his food products.  This toy also allows the fabric sides to raise and lower by two little cog wheels on each side.
