It was speculated that this toy depicts E.P. Lehmann and his wife. The box art calls it “Walking Down Broadway,” but it is commonly called the “Lehmann Family” toy. These EPL 260 toys are scarce and were made only between 1890 and 1895. A “tooth rack” was used to get the wheel under the handbag moving to propel the toy forward. The lady’s handbag and the dog were often lost, so you have to be on the lookout for reproductions. The dog and purse on this toy is original. The ultra-rare original box is in spectacular condition.
